FNQI-3D protective guard for Garmin LiveScope LVS42 transducer, 3D printed in UV-resistant ASA

Garmin LiveScope Transducer Guards: Protecting Your LVS34, LVS42 & LVS44

Forward-facing sonar has changed how a lot of us fish, but the transducer that makes it work hangs off a pole or trolling motor shaft, right where it can cop a hit from a snag, a ramp, a rock bar or a careless moment loading the boat. A guard won't make it bulletproof, but it adds a protective layer against the everyday knocks that cause damage.

FNQI-3D makes guards for three Garmin LiveScope transducers. Here's what each one does and how to choose.

Which LiveScope transducer do you have?

Each guard is designed around one specific transducer, so start by confirming your model, which is marked on the transducer itself.

Clip-on guards for the LVS42 and LVS44

The LVS42 and LVS44 guards are clip-on designs. They fit directly onto the transducer and can be removed when required, with no permanent modification and no drilling.

Key points from the product pages:

  • Clip-on fit – goes on and comes off without modifying the transducer
  • UV-resistant ASA – Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate, chosen for its UV and weather resistance in outdoor and marine use
  • Lightweight construction – an additional protective layer against everyday knocks
  • Colour options – the LVS42 guard is offered in black, red, blue, green and yellow
  • Locally made – designed and manufactured in Far North Queensland

LVS34 protective cover

The LVS34 cover is aimed at protecting the LiveScope Plus transducer during transport, storage and when it isn't deployed. Think trailering on corrugated roads, the drive to the ramp and time stored in the shed.

Why ASA instead of cheaper plastics?

A lot of 3D-printed accessories are made from PLA or PETG, which can soften, warp or go brittle with long UV exposure. The LVS42 and LVS44 guards are made from ASA because it holds up far better in sun and weather, which matters for something that lives on a boat in Australian conditions.

Fitting checklist

  1. Confirm your transducer model (LVS34, LVS42 or LVS44).
  2. Clean the transducer housing so the guard seats properly.
  3. Clip the guard on and check it's fully seated before deploying.
  4. Check it again after your first run to make sure it's still secure.

What's included: one guard or cover. The transducer, mounting hardware and other pictured accessories are not included.
