Connecting a Garden Hose to Your Kitchen or Basin Tap: The M24x1 Adaptor Guide
Share
Sometimes the tap you need is inside. Maybe you're filling a fish tank, rinsing the dog in the laundry tub, topping up a pool or water tank, or living somewhere with no outdoor tap at all. Carrying buckets back and forth gets old fast. A tap-to-hose adaptor lets you click a standard garden hose straight onto an indoor tap instead.
The FNQI-3D M24x1 Tap to Garden Hose Adaptor
The M24x1 Tap to Garden Hose Adaptor (2 Pack) screws onto your tap where the aerator normally sits and gives you a standard click-on hose fitting.
- M24x1 thread to suit taps with a standard M24x1 male aerator thread
- Universal hose fit for standard click-on garden hose connectors
- No tools, plumbing or permanent changes needed
- 2 pack, so you can keep one in the kitchen and one in the laundry
- Australian made in Far North Queensland by FNQI-3D
Step 1: Check your tap thread
This is the most important step. Unscrew the aerator (the little mesh piece on the end of the spout) and look at the thread it leaves behind.
- Thread on the outside of the spout: this is a male thread. If it measures about 24 mm across the outside of the thread, it's M24x1 and this adaptor suits it.
- Thread on the inside of the spout: this is a female thread, commonly M22x1. This adaptor won't fit that style.
A ruler or vernier across the outside of the thread is all you need. Not sure? Send us a photo of your spout and we'll help you check.
Step 2: Fit the adaptor
- Unscrew the aerator from your tap spout and put it somewhere safe so you can refit it later.
- Screw the adaptor onto the tap thread until it's firm. Hand-tight is enough.
- Click your garden hose connector onto the adaptor and turn the tap on slowly.
When you're done, just unscrew the adaptor and refit your aerator. Nothing about your tap is changed.
Handy uses
- Filling fish tanks, aquariums and water troughs
- Topping up pools, ponds and water tanks
- Washing pets in the laundry tub
- Watering indoor plants or a balcony garden
- Filling buckets, eskies and water containers for camping
- Running a hose when there's no outdoor tap
Tips for a leak-free connection
- Clean the thread first. A bit of scale or grit on the spout thread can stop the adaptor seating properly.
- Hand-tight only. There's no need for pliers or spanners.
- Turn the tap on gradually. Start slow and open it up once you've checked the connection.
- Don't leave it running unattended. Indoor taps and sinks aren't designed for a hose under pressure all day, so turn the tap off when you're finished.
